About us
Fundamental Group is a specialist media, marketing and technology business, mainly serving the global asset management industry. Founded in London in 2003, we have over 170 people across London, Boston, Hong Kong and Sydney. We are a multiple award‑winning agency with a culture that combines high performance with genuine investment in our people. In an AI era, the belief that people are our most important differentiator has only deepened.
As generative AI has levelled the production playing field, the differentiating factor in marketing has shifted from content creation to strategic quality, data embedment and driving outcomes e.g. by getting the right message, to the right audience, through the right channel, at the right moment – grounded in proprietary data and delivered with genuine authority. Fundamental Group occupies a unique position in this landscape. Our proprietary data platforms give us a real‑time view of asset manager marketing activity, audience behaviour and competitive positioning across 24+ markets.
This role drives the translation of our intelligence advantage into transformative content solutions for our clients and acts as a trusted strategic adviser to the marketing leaders who commission them.
The role
Fundamental Group is looking for a Financial Content Strategist to deliver content marketing projects for both external and internal clients. This job is for a fixed‑term contract (maternity cover), with the possibility of turning into a permanent position.
Responsibilities include content marketing activities for Fundamental Group and its business divisions as well as client‑facing advisory responsibilities for content strategy and delivery. The right candidate will be as comfortable shaping a content strategy in a client meeting as they are producing the work that follows from it. Asset management knowledge, genuine editorial craft and the confidence to challenge and advise senior marketers are vital.
You will:
- Produce authoritative, audience‑specific content across every format, from long‑form thought leadership to performance‑oriented digital copy
- Ensure every piece of content earns its place in the media ecosystem, measurable against brand, audience and commercial outcomes
- Act as a trusted content strategist to asset management marketing teams by diagnosing content gaps, shaping programmes and influencing investment
You will be embedded within client relationships – attending strategy sessions, interpreting briefs, and often helping clients articulate what they actually need before a brief is written. You will advise on content architecture, channel strategy and how to navigate complex product landscapes. Then you will produce, or direct the production of, the work itself.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a senior content strategist within client relationships at leading global asset managers. Advise marketing teams on content programme design, investment themes, product positioning and audience segmentation
- Translate client marketing objectives into complete, integrated content solutions – spanning thought leadership, investment commentary, campaign copy, digital content, social, infographics and email – delivered to the standard expected by world‑class institutional brands
