We are recruiting an experienced Mainframe DB2 System Administrator to support a large, enterprise-scale IBM Z environment. This is a hands-on role focused on DB2 for z/OS system-level administration, availability, performance, and resilience. You will work on critical production systems, owning DB2 subsystem health, upgrades, tuning and recovery, while collaborating with infrastructure, security and vendor teams.
Responsibilities:
- DB2 for z/OS installation, maintenance and upgrades using SMP/E
- Applying PTFs and managing DB2 subsystem lifecycle
- Performance monitoring and tuning (ZPARMS, buffer pools, EDM pools)
- Backup, recovery and disaster recovery for DB2 catalog and directory
- Administration of Broadcom / CA tools (Platinum, SYSVIEW for DB2)
- Implementing and managing DB2 security via RACF, ACF2 or Top Secret
- Supporting high-availability, production mainframe environments
- Client-facing communication and participation in vendor engagements
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience as a DB2 System Administrator / Systems Programmer
- DB2 for z/OS (not LUW or distributed databases)
- z/OS internals and mainframe infrastructure
- SMP/E installation and maintenance
- DB2 performance tuning and subsystem optimisation
- Mainframe security tools (RACF, ACF2, Top Secret)
- Broadcom / CA tooling experience (SYSVIEW, Platinum)
Desirable:
- IMS installation or DB2/IMS production support
- Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
