We are recruiting an experienced Powertrain / Fuel Systems Engineer to support the design, development and release of fuel path and evaporative systems for a leading UK automotive OEM project. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on component ownership and delivery, working across the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept through launch.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and release fuel system components including fuel tank, fuel delivery module (FDM), filler pipe/hose, charcoal canister, EVAP and leak detection systems.
- Act as component or system owner, ensuring performance, quality, cost and safety targets are met.
- Apply systems engineering principles including requirements management, verification and validation.
- Lead failure mode avoidance (FMA) and 8D problem solving, including root cause analysis and warranty prevention.
- Support programme delivery using APQP, CCDS and EBER processes.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance and variation management to ensure robust design and release.
- Work closely with suppliers, manufacturing and cross-functional engineering teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in fuel systems / fuel path / EVAP engineering.
- Proven component or design release experience within an OEM or Tier-1 environment.
- Knowledge of APQP, 8D, FMA and systems engineering.
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Automotive background essential.
Desirable
- OEM onsite experience.
- Supplier management exposure.
- Launch or production support experience.
