Fund Boards Council (FBC) is an independent, expert-led organisation dedicated to improving governance, transparency and value for investors across UK, Irish and Luxembourg-regulated fund boards. We are at an important stage of our development, building the operational infrastructure to support a growing, data-led business, and we are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to support the day-to-day running of our operations.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role for someone who is organised, proactive and keen to develop their operational experience in a small, high-trust environment. You will work closely with the Managing Director, Head of Operations, and the wider senior leadership team, supporting activity across finance, HR, IT, compliance and responsible business functions. The role offers genuine scope for development.

You will take responsibility for defined areas of day-to-day operational delivery, with guidance and oversight from the Managing Director and Head of Operations, and will have the opportunity to build greater autonomy and responsibility as your experience and the business develop.

What you will do

You will support the day-to-day operational activity of the business across finance, HR, IT and compliance, managing defined workstreams and keeping senior leadership informed through clear, concise reporting. On the finance side, you will manage expense tracking, invoice and budget monitoring, payroll administration and supplier relationships.

Across HR, you will coordinate recruitment, onboarding, probationary reviews and training requirements, maintain HR documentation and support team members with day-to-day operational and administrative queries. You will also support the day-to-day administration of FBC’s IT systems, software licences and collaboration tools, liaising with outsourced IT and website providers where required.

In addition, you will help coordinate FBC’s B Corp certification and responsible business activities, supporting the implementation and ongoing administration of relevant frameworks and reporting requirements. You will be encouraged to identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working, escalating significant issues, risks and decisions appropriately. As your capability develops, you will take on increasing responsibility and may be asked to undertake other reasonable duties in line with the growth and development of the business.

What we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you have experience in an operations, business operations, office management or similar role and are ready to take the next step in your career. You will be highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines, and able to work proactively while recognising when to seek guidance or escalate an issue. You will have strong attention to detail, good communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach.

Some experience of financial administration would be helpful, and experience coordinating HR processes, working with IT systems or suppliers, or supporting a small or growing organisation would also be welcome. An interest in sustainability, responsible business or B Corp principles would be an advantage, but is not essential. Above all, we are looking for someone who is dependable, eager to learn and comfortable taking increasing ownership as they grow into the role.

The details

This is a permanent, full-time (five days per week), fully remote, UK-based PAYE role, with a salary of £38,000 to £42,000 per annum depending on experience. Benefits include a company pension, private health insurance and generous annual leave, with full details available on request.

At FBC, we don’t just accept difference — we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability or gender identity.
