We are seeking a freelance Story/Edit Producer (Music Documentary) to start with provisional dates being August 2026 - May 2027. Full time & based in London.
Key Responsibilities- The Story/Edit Producer will work closely with the Director and Executive Producer to shape and deliver a high profile, archive led music documentary series.
- They will play a key role in guiding the editorial narrative across multiple edits, ensuring compelling storytelling, strong structure, and creative consistency throughout the post production process.
- Key responsibilities include developing story arcs, reviewing and shaping edits, collaborating with editors and senior creatives, managing archive-heavy storytelling workflows, and helping to craft the narrative of a major biographical public figure.
- Extensive experience as a Story Producer and/or Edit Producer on long-form documentary, biographical, or premium factual productions.
- Exceptional storytelling instincts with a proven ability to shape complex narratives from large volumes of archive and observational material.
- Strong editorial judgement and confidence working collaboratively with Directors, Executive Producers, and Editors throughout the post production process.
- Significant experience working on archive heavy productions, with a strong understanding of archive workflows, rights considerations, and editorial compliance.
- Experience working with music led content and productions involving substantial music clearance requirements is essential.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide clear editorial feedback and guide multiple edits simultaneously.
- Minimum of three broadcaster or SVOD Story/Edit Producer credits on music documentaries, biographical documentaries, or closely related factual programming.
- Highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities across a long-form production schedule.
