To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care. Following Codes of Professional Practice provide high quality care to patients undergoing treatment within the perioperative setting.
It is essential the applicant has previous experience in scrub and/or anaesthetics. Theatre practitioners are required by Princess Alexandra NHS Trust following the restructuring of the hospital. You will be part of a talented team dedicated to delivering excellent care and will participate in all aspects of theatre care, including paediatrics and a range of specialities. We currently have opportunities available for theatre practitioners with a basic salary between £25,665 and £31,534 (AFC-Band 5) depending on experience, plus excellent NHS benefits. This is a full time role, but the Trust is open to hearing from practitioners seeking to negotiate a part-time opportunity; however, fixed hours cannot be guaranteed.
Main duties of the job:
- Communicate effectively with patients and relatives/carers to provide patients and relatives/carers with information and advice and to liaise with appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team regarding their surgery.
- Provide and maintain effective clinical assessment to ensure that patient care is planned and evaluated and related to the individual needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Seek supervision to ensure that personal clinical practice is continuously developing.
- Ensure that all documentation is comprehensively completed in accordance with the NMC/HCPC and Trust guidance.
