The Physiotherapy team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital is looking for a motivated and dynamic band 4 assistant practitioner to join the Elderly Care team.
Your role will involve working with patients across our 3 elderly care wards, taking on an identified caseload while working under indirect supervision. You will be responsible for attending MDT board meetings to represent physiotherapy and facilitate discharges.
This is a fast-paced, acute environment requiring a flexible approach, quick learning, and the ability to handle conflicting demands. You will need to complete work-based competencies to fulfill this role.
This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week.
The Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner for Elderly Care will work as part of the Physiotherapy team within the Therapies Department under the supervision of a qualified Physiotherapist. They will use knowledge and skills gained through the Foundation degree and/or equivalent work experience to support Physiotherapists in assessing and implementing physiotherapy with inpatients referred to the service.
The role involves undertaking skilled and specialist support work with elderly patients, following guidelines set by Physiotherapists.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload on an elderly care ward, including treatment, liaison, reports, and case conferences, and adjusting treatment programs as needed, possibly making clinical judgments.
You will supervise and support junior staff and physiotherapy students on placement in the elderly care setting.
