Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join the small but mighty team at the Wattenden Arms. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a positive work environment. This is a Thurs-Sun role with the some holiday cover. Single room accommodation is available if required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and food preparation
  • Oversee food production to ensure consistency and quality
  • Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and procedures
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes
  • Support the Head Chef in administrative tasks such as scheduling and budgeting
