The Product Development Manager (Food) is accountable for delivering high-quality, commercially viable new products and product improvements for our customers. They lead the day-to-day development process from brief to launch, ensuring projects meet customer requirements, follow the Fullers Quality Management System, and are executed on time through strong coordination of suppliers, internal teams and stakeholders. They provide category insight, technical understanding and project leadership to ensure Fullers consistently delivers products that meet customer expectations and drive business growth.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day Product development project delivery, ensuring all development activity follows the Fullers Foods Quality Management System and delivers outstanding service to customers.
- Support the Senior Product Managers and Head of Product Development in shaping and delivering the product pipeline, contributing insight on category gaps, supplier capabilities, and new product opportunities.
- Own the product development process for allocated projects, ensuring critical paths, trackers and documentation are accurate, up to date, and communicated effectively across relevant departments.
- Act as a key liaison between suppliers, customers and internal teams throughout the development cycle, ensuring products meet the brief, technical requirements and commercial expectations.
- Prepare and coordinate all samples, documentation and submissions for customer brand panels, representing Fullers and ensuring high-quality presentations.
- Conduct category and competitor research to inform development direction, including maintaining category autopsies, benchmarking outputs and price gap analysis.
- Coordinate and support monthly benchmarking sessions, using findings to drive product improvement and inform customer conversations.
- Ensure cutter guides, photography samples and supporting assets for new or improved products are checked, approved and communicated to supply sites accurately.
- Provide product development inputs into KRA reviews, customer plans and internal commercial updates.
- Attend first production runs as needed to validate specification compliance, understand manufacturing processes and resolve early issues.
- Support the organisation and delivery of innovation days, customer visits and supplier showcases.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers, including occasional international travel as required to support development and approvals.
- Carry out additional responsibilities that support the smooth running of the product development function and wider business.
