This is a unique opportunity to join the Fuller and Forbes Healthcare Group as Chief Technology Officer at a pivotal stage of growth and transformation. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the CTO will play a central role in shaping how technology and AI are used to improve the delivery of primary care across the group, while also leading the development and commercialisation of innovative health technology products through Smart General Practice Ltd.

As a senior member of the leadership team, the postholder will set and deliver the group's technology strategy, combining hands-on technical leadership with strong product and commercial expertise. The role has a dual focus: driving measurable operational efficiencies across six GP practices through intelligent automation and digital transformation, and building safe, clinically validated, and scalable technology products that can be taken to market.

Working closely with clinical leaders and board colleagues, the CTO will ensure that all technology is secure, compliant with NHS standards, and designed around real clinical and operational needs. This role is ideally suited to a highly motivated technology leader who is passionate about using AI and digital innovation to transform primary care, reduce administrative burden, and improve outcomes for patients and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and deliver the technology and digital innovation strategy across the Fuller and Forbes Healthcare Group.
  • Lead the development, deployment and scaling of AI-enabled tools that improve operational efficiency, patient access and clinical workflows across the group's GP practices.
  • Oversee product development within Smart General Practice Ltd, directing the roadmap for existing and future health technology products and supporting their clinical validation and commercial growth.
  • Lead AI-driven digital transformation initiatives, manage technology partners and integrations with core GP clinical systems.
  • Ensure robust information governance and data security, and deliver measurable efficiency and cost saving benefits through intelligent automation.
  • Ensure all solutions are safe, effective, and aligned with NHS standards and regulatory requirements.

The Fuller and Forbes Healthcare Group is one of the UK's leading independent primary care organisations, operating GP contracts across 17 practice centres nationally, serving around 120,000 patients, and also runs community contracts serving a variety of patient groups. Since its inception in 2018, the group has grown exponentially from 4k patients utilising a wide range of technological approaches to improve patient access and care.

The group now needs a role to help the technology it is developing transform and define the business moving forward. The group's technology arm, Smart General Practice Ltd, develops products including Smart Navigation (a clinical decision-support and navigation tool), Smart Consult, Smart Fit Note, Smart Med Checker, Smart Cue, Smart Complaint Responder and Smart Medical Report. It is currently leading the way on building an automated, voice-enabled patient triage system in partnership with Answer Digital.

The ambition is to create health technology that works at scale across the group's own practices and can then be offered commercially to the wider primary care market. This CTO role is the most significant hire in the group's next chapter. The successful candidate will shape not just how the practices operate, but what the group becomes.
