This is a hands-on performance marketing role with Paid Search at its core.

As our Paid Media Specialist you'll work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and Performance Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of Zzoomm's paid media activity, with a particular focus on Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.

We work with specialist external agencies, but we want to build stronger Paid Media expertise within Zzoomm.

You will work alongside our agencies rather than simply receiving reports from them: getting into the platforms and the data yourself, understanding what is driving performance, spotting opportunities, questioning recommendations and helping ensure we are getting the best possible return from our investment.

This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys Paid Search.

You will be curious about why performance has changed, comfortable digging into campaign and conversion data to find the answer, and always looking for the next opportunity to generate more customers or improve acquisition efficiency.

Paid Media will be your specialism, but you will be part of a wider digital marketing team and will also have the opportunity to support activity across Paid Social, CRO, SEO, affiliates, CRM and the website.

Job requirements

Skills & Experience required to do this role...

Essential

  • At least 3 years' hands-on experience managing or optimising Paid Search campaigns.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Google Ads, Microsoft Ads & Meta Ads; you should be comfortable working directly within live accounts rather than relying solely on agency reporting.
  • Good understanding of Paid Search fundamentals including campaign and account structure, keywords, match types, search terms, negative keywords, bidding strategies, budgets and conversion optimisation.
  • Experience analysing campaign performance and making optimisation recommendations based on data.
  • Strong understanding of metrics including CPA, CPC, CTR, conversion rate and impression share.
  • Comfortable using GA4 to investigate website and conversion performance.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and confidence working with large sets of performance data.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability and a genuine interest in understanding why something has happened, not simply reporting that it has happened.
  • Commercially minded, with an understanding that successful performance marketing is ultimately measured through customer acquisition and return on investment.
  • Comfortable working with and constructively challenging external agencies and partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple campaigns, tests and priorities simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Experience with Chat GPT Ads.
  • Experience with other Paid Media Platforms we could look at expanding into
  • Experience building or using Looker Studio reporting.
  • Understanding of Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking and digital analytics.
  • Experience with offline conversion imports, enhanced conversions or first-party customer data.
  • Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimisation.
  • Experience working in a lead-generation, subscription, ecommerce, telecoms or other high-volume B2C environment.
  • Experience working alongside a specialist paid media or performance marketing agency.
  • Google Ads certification.

The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here We're looking for someone with a genuine performance marketing mindset and you'll likely to be someone who:

  • Opens Google Ads because you want to know how yesterday performed, not because somebody has asked you to.
  • Notices when CPA, conversion rate or traffic changes unexpectedly and wants to understand why.
  • Enjoys digging into data and turning what you find into an action.
  • Constantly asks "what can we test next?"
  • Understands that increasing volume and improving efficiency have to be balanced.
  • Is comfortable challenging an agency recommendation when the data suggests something different.
  • Doesn't accept the advertising platform's reported performance without considering what happened further down the customer journey.
  • Takes ownership and follows through on actions.
  • Is commercially curious and wants to understand how marketing ultimately translates into customers and revenue.
  • Wants to become a genuine Paid Media expert while continuing to develop broader digital marketing skills.

Our Marketing teams' work style is hybrid, which involves spending time at one of our offices several times a month, you would be required to travel if you are successful in this role.

  • Work closely with the wider digital team to improve the journey after somebody clicks an advert.
  • Identify landing page and website opportunities from Paid Search behaviour and performance data.
  • Support structured A/B testing of landing pages, messaging, propositions and calls to action.
