HR Business Partner – 12 Month FTC Location: Hattersley, Greater Manchester Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Sector: Engineering / Construction / Utilities Hybrid working with regional travel We are recruiting for an experienced HR Business Partner / Senior HR Advisor to join a large and leading engineering and infrastructure organisation on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a hands-on, operational HR role with a strong focus on employee relations and supporting line managers with day-to-day people matters. Based primarily from the Hattersley office (on a hybrid basis), you will support several regional business areas across the North, providing practical HR advice, managing employee relations cases and helping managers apply HR policies and processes effectively. The role would suit an experienced Senior HR Advisor looking to step into an HR Business Partner position, or an existing operational HR Business Partner who enjoys a hands-on, ER-focused role. Key responsibilities will include: * Managing a varied and high-volume employee relations caseload * Advising and supporting managers with disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance management cases * Providing practical guidance on HR policies, procedures and employment law * Coaching managers through employee relations matters and difficult conversations * Building effective working relationships with managers across the regional business * Supporting managers with the implementation of the organisation's People Plan * Supporting HR processes relating to performance management, talent and succession planning * Working with Learning & Development teams to coordinate training and development activity * Supporting organisational change and the implementation of HR initiatives * Working with recruitment teams on workforce planning and future talent activity * Supporting wellbeing, diversity and inclusion and employee engagement initiatives * Undertaking HR project work as required * Maintaining accurate HR information and supporting the monitoring of people metrics and key deliverables * Travelling to other regional offices and operational locations when required We are looking for a confident and experienced operational HR professional with strong employee relations experience. Ideally you’ll have: * Previous experience as an HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor, HR Advisor or People Advisor * Recent experience managing a high-volume employee relations caseload * Strong experience handling disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management cases * Experience advising line managers on day-to-day HR and employee relations matters * Strong working knowledge of UK employment law * Experience applying HR policies and procedures in an operational environment * Confidence coaching and advising managers * Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills * The ability to manage multiple cases and priorities at the same time * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach * Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook * CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent HR experience Experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, utilities or another operational environment would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience of workforce planning, resourcing, benchmarking or HR metrics would also be beneficial.
