We’re working with a leading Tier 1 contractor in the UK water sector who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support a growing pipeline of work across long-term frameworks. This is a team-level role, offering exposure across a range of projects - ideal for someone who’s looking to take the next step in their QS career, but also open to those earlier on who are ready to step up. The role is based in Exeter with hybrid working available. Reporting into a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be involved across the full commercial lifecycle — from supporting on larger schemes through to taking ownership of your own packages as you develop.
Key responsibilities:
- Applications, valuations and cost value reconciliation
- Cost control, forecasting and monthly reporting (value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow)
- Supply chain management – subcontract enquiries, negotiation and placement
- Contract administration (NEC3 / NEC4)
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and client representatives
- Providing commercial support to the wider project team
What they’re looking for:
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or design & build environment
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts (or exposure to them)
Also open to:
- Candidates earlier in their QS career (c.1–3 years) who are looking to step up and develop
Experience within the water sector or utilities would be beneficial, but not essential. You’ll be joining a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, offering stability, support, and clear progression.
