We deliver exceptional consultancy services, champion sustainability and most importantly, empower and prioritise our people. As a proud B Corp, we’re committed to high standards of social and environmental performance and making the journey smooth and successful for our clients. We’re big enough to lead complex, high-profile projects, yet small enough to genuinely support and care for our employees – our 'Fulkers people'.

What does the role involve? As a Quantity Surveyor with us, you’ll be overseeing construction projects from outset to completion on all commercial and financial aspects of construction projects. The role involves working with the Project Team to allow projects to be delivered safely on time and to budget whilst ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Produce and manage cost plans, life cycle costing, cash flows and benchmarking using software such as Cost-X and BIM.
  • Prepare tender documentation, bills of quantities, procurement reports and manage the full tender process including evaluations and reporting.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and maintain accurate cost databases and risk registers.
  • Lead post-contract duties including valuations, cost reporting, change control, final account negotiations, and evaluation of variations and claims.
  • Act as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent, including issuing instructions, overseeing snagging, issuing certificates and post-contract admin.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits, liaising with consultants and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance processes and best practice standards.
  • Mentor and support Assistant Surveyors as part of team development.
  • Always take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by working within company H&S procedures.
  • Endeavour to improve our social and environmental impact.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

Previous experience in a similar role:

  • Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent).
  • Achieved or working towards MRICS.
  • Experience of working within the construction industry and commercial awareness of the construction process.
  • Excellent technical grounding in all main areas of cost management, contract suites and their application.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of value engineering.
  • A client-centric outlook, with an ambition to deliver projects meeting client objectives cost effectively.
  • Ability to deliver a project with minor support from senior staff from feasibility studies through to final account.
  • Able to network and willingness to contribute towards business development.
  • Able to efficiently support with and delegate tasks to assistants through the development of leadership skills.

Benefits:

  • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), plus an extra paid day off for your birthday and Christmas shutdown.
  • Option to buy or carry over up to 5 additional holiday days annually.
  • Private health cover from day one.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and charitable volunteer leave.
  • Agile working policy.
  • Annual discretionary bonus and salary review.
  • Company pension scheme.
