What does the role involve? As an Architectural Technologist, you’ll be working closely with architects and other building professionals, providing architectural design services and solutions on a large range of construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Selecting the best materials and processes for the project
  • Surveying sites, site measured surveys and identifying location benefits
  • Project design under the direction of a Building Surveyor/ Architect
  • Carrying out feasibility studies and risk assessments
  • Analysing architectural plans and drawings, highlighting any possible risks or problems, and making amendments using computer-aided design applications (CAD)
  • Specifying the appropriate technology and tools to be used in the project and advising where this requires deviation from the initial design plans
  • Liaising with the architect, surveyors, and other construction professionals
  • Preparation of drawn tender documentation
  • Preparing documents to help with getting planning permission and similar approvals
  • Processing Planning applications and dealing with Planning Conditions when required
  • Dealing with Building Control queries and construction drawings and details when required
  • Preparation and management of project drawing issue registers
  • Visiting sites to check progress and inspect work
  • To keep directors/associates fully informed of progress
  • Always take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by working within company H&S procedures
  • Endeavour to improve our social and environmental impact
  • Any other duties as reasonably required
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working as an Architectural Technician, Technologist or Assistant Architect
  • Relevant qualification in Architectural Technology/ Design
  • willingness to work towards professional architectural accreditation
  • Experience of working within the construction industry and commercial awareness of the construction process
  • Good technical grounding in all main areas of Architectural Technology
  • A client‑centric outlook, with an ambition to deliver projects meeting client objectives effectively
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload
