Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the nursery provision for 1–2 year olds.
- Promote high standards, ambitious expectations and a culture of excellence.
- Deliver engaging, play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework.
- Create safe, stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments that support children’s development, independence and wellbeing.
- Oversee planning, assessment, observations and record-keeping in line with EYFS requirements.
- Support children’s personal, social and emotional development, encouraging confidence, kindness and independence.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents through regular communication, meetings and events.
- Represent and promote the nursery within the wider school community.
- Manage nursery resources, budgets, records and documentation effectively, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety and quality.
- Support transitions within the nursery and early years settings.
- Promote inclusive practice, positive behaviour and respect for diversity.
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare, health and safety of all children at all times.
- Administer first aid and respond appropriately to health and safeguarding concerns.
- Uphold all school policies, including safeguarding, attendance, conduct and professional standards.
- Contribute fully to the academic and pastoral life of the school, including attending INSET days and relevant meetings.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and experience planning engaging learning for 1–2 year olds.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage staff, routines and responsibilities effectively.
- Caring, patient and adaptable approach, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
- Ability to work collaboratively, build positive relationships with parents and colleagues, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative, enthusiastic and committed to maintaining high standards of early years education and professional practice.
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (or equivalent) required; EYTS, leadership qualifications, first aid and safeguarding certifications desirable.
