Award-winning charity is recruiting new Trustees to join our Board. Fulham Good Neighbours is seeking skills in accountancy, law and fundraising. Candidates who have previous experience as a Trustee of a charity will have the opportunity to apply for the role of Chair.
Fulham Good Neighbours services reduce loneliness via our warm friendly community centre housing our social clubs; they improve physical health via exercise classes and healthy hot meals; support independent living via advocacy, information workshops and digital inclusion sessions; support security and safety via home repair services; provide skills training and purpose in life via peer volunteering; promote intergenerational relationships via volunteer befriending, shopping and gardening schemes. The charity is recipient of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE of the voluntary sector.
What are we looking for? Fulham Good Neighbours is seeking skills in accountancy, law and fundraising. You will have a passion for supporting older and disabled members of the community, and an empathy for their needs. You will commit to serving a full three-year term with a maximum of 9 years. No experience of serving on Trustees Boards is necessary aside from the Chair role. FGN is also keen to improve representation from other underrepresented groups, including (but not exclusively) by ethnicity, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership. Also, those with lived, volunteer or professional experience of supporting older and disabled people, which is specifically relevant to the work we carry out.
What will you be doing? FGN are pleased to be recruiting up to four new trustees. In collaboration with your co-trustees, you will ensure that FGN complies with its governance document and the law, particularly our responsibilities as a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. You will act in the charity’s best interests and ensure careful management of resources and accountability. You will attend board meetings every three months, a strategy session every 18 months, and our Annual General Meeting in November, and contribute your skills to ad-hoc activities and fundraising events. Meetings take place between 5 and 8pm evening and with a strategy session over one afternoon. Meetings are held at Rosaline Hall, SW6 with the opportunity for online attendance for some meetings. The time commitment is approximately 4 hours per month.
