As a Network Engineer at Fulham Football Club, you’ll assist in maintaining and improving the Club’s network infrastructure across all sites, including offices, training grounds, and Craven Cottage stadium. You’ll ensure that the Club’s wired and wireless networks are reliable, secure, and performant, supporting everything from day-to-day business operations to matchday and broadcast requirements. You’ll work closely with the Infrastructure Manager to deliver robust connectivity solutions, resolve complex network issues, and contribute to ongoing network upgrades and projects. The role will work alongside our third party network support partner to perform the hands-on activity required on site.
Job responsibilities
- Work alongside our MSP to maintain, monitor, and support all Club network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN, firewalls, VPNs, and internet connectivity).
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents, acting as an escalation point for the Service Desk.
- Support matchday and event operations by ensuring stable, high-performance connectivity for staff, broadcast, and operational systems.
- Install network switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. This role will provide hands and eyes for troubleshooting and perform emergency hardware swap outs.
- Assist in monitoring network performance, capacity, and security using appropriate tools.
- Ensure regular hygiene tasks are completed such as monitoring licences, certificates etc.
- Assist in implementing network improvements, upgrades, and expansions.
- Work with MSP to maintain accurate documentation of network topology, configurations, and assets.
- Work with the service desk to provide training and knowledge share on 1st / 2nd line troubleshooting.
- Working to network security best practices, including access controls and patching.
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to support integration between network and server environments.
- Collaborate with the MSP to drive network initiatives and standards, building a strong relationship with the MSP.
- Supporting OOH upgrades, managing internal comms, testing and CAB requirements.
- Assist the infrastructure manager in looking at solutions, new hardware and opportunities. Providing in depth feedback and recommendations.
Job requirements
- 3 years of experience in network engineering.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, NAT).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network hardware, preferably Cisco.
- Experience managing firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Knowledge of network security principles and practices.
- Experience with structured cabling, patching, and rack management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during live events or matchdays.
- Experience supporting multi-site or event-driven environments.
- Exposure to cloud networking.
- Familiarity with network automation tools.
- Understanding of VoIP systems and QoS configuration.
- Scripting or automation knowledge.
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Networking, or related field.
