Academy Education Post-16 Teacher (Maternity Cover) in London

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Teacher to join our team on a fixed-term basis covering maternity leave.

This role is expected to last for approximately 8 months from November 2026.

The Post-16 Teacher will lead on the delivery of the Academy’s scholarship education programme, primarily teaching the BTEC Level 3 in Sporting Performance and Excellence, as well as the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) qualification.

You will consistently deliver outstanding teaching and learning in your own practice and play a key role in driving high standards of teaching and learning across the department.

You will be responsible for ensuring players make good progress towards their target grades in each qualification.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the pastoral team, supporting the holistic, off-pitch development of our players.

Operating across phases, the role’s primary purpose is to add value to all aspects of our players’ educational programmes and to contribute towards maintaining the Academy’s Category 1 status.

Job requirements

The Academy Education Post-16 Teacher must have

• Educated to degree level.
• PGCE with QTS or equivalent.
• Experience of delivering a BTEC at KS5.
• Experience of delivering KS3 and KS4 curriculum.
• A commitment to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that drive outstanding teaching and learning, ensuring all learners make sustained progress.
• Working knowledge of BTEC qualifications.
• A commitment and experience of supporting young people holistically.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with players, parents, and colleagues.

Ideally Academy Education Post-16 Teacher will have

• Experience working within an elite sporting or performance environment.
• Knowledge of Academy football and the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
• Experience of delivering an A-Level.
• Experience delivering the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) apprenticeship.
• PE based teaching experience.
• Experience in coordinating or leading education programmes.
• Experience of working with external partners, including schools and awarding bodies.

The Post-16 Teacher plays a central role in delivering and developing the Academy’s education programme, with a particular focus on the BTEC Level 3 in Sporting Performance and Excellence and the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) qualification.

This role involves delivering consistently high-quality teaching and learning, tracking and supporting academic progress, and contributing to the holistic development of players through mentoring, pastoral support, and leadership of key initiatives.

The successful candidate will also support wider departmental responsibilities, including destination tracking, school liaison, and compliance with EPPP and Premier League education standards, ensuring that the Academy continues to provide bespoke education pathways for its players.

• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that drive outstanding teaching and learning, ensuring all learners make sustained progress.
• Develop and maintain high-quality departmental resources, including schemes of work and assessment materials.
• Monitor, track, and support the academic progress of all scholars, using data to inform timely interventions.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes the highest standards of behaviour for learning amongst learners.
• Take ownership of professional development and actively engage in relevant training and CPD opportunities.
• Coordinate and conduct regular academic and pastoral progress reviews with players and their schools across phases.
• Support the delivery of the Academy Life Plan, ensuring alignment with player development objectives.
• To support the Youth Development Phase Compensatory Education Programme.
• Attend relevant department, phase‑specific, and league‑led education meetings.
• Support post‑scholarship destination tracking and transitions.
• Act as a liaison for school engagement, particularly with YDP players.
• Coordinate or support YDP education projects and events.
• Ensure compliance with EPPP, Premier League, and external quality assurance frameworks, including preparation for audits and visits.
