Position Purpose: The Fire Team will not normally be expected to be involved in the management of spectators. When deployed as a member of the Fire Team, the primary role is one of fire prevention and first response should an outbreak of fire occur. This role is suitable for candidates who are or have experience in the fire industry or stewards who are willing to undergo additional fire safety training to enable them to carry out this role.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age, fit, active, and possessing the character and temperament to carry out the duties required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to attend most first-team home fixtures and other major events held at the stadium.
  • Polite, courteous, and helpful to all supporters.
  • Adherence to the club dress code and maintain cleanliness and tidiness while on duty.
  • Focus entirely on area of responsibility while on duty.
  • No hostility or use of obscene or offensive language to supporters.
  • No conduct that could bring discredit on the club.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend the stadium at dates and times dictated by the Head of Safety.
  • Undertake pre-match and post-match fire checks as instructed by the Fire Team leader.
  • Arrive at Steward Sign as directed.
  • Conduct pre-match checks and required documentation on Raven Controls.
  • Patrol stands and undercroft to minimise fire risk and assist in preventing the spread of fire.
  • Respond to fires and associated incidents as directed by FFC Control, ensuring staff are supported, appropriate action is taken, and information passed to the Safety Management Team (Act – Inform – Escalate).
  • Attend match meetings with the Fire Team leader to identify issues, learn lessons, and review deployments.
  • Report any fire safety concerns to the Fire Team leader for escalation to FFC Control and the Safety Officer.
  • Know the location of and effectively operate the firefighting equipment at the stadium.
  • Provide basic first aid if required.
  • Know the location of first aid rooms within the stadium.
  • Be fully conversant with methods or messages used to alert staff of an emergency.
  • Recognise potential fire hazards and suspect packages; report immediately to the Fire Team leader, a supervisor, chief steward, deputy safety officer, or safety officer.
  • Promptly comply with instructions from supervisors, chief stewards, deputy safety officers, safety officers, or police officers.
  • Comply with instructions and guidance in the Stewards Handbook and standing instructions for the FFC Fire Team.
  • Attend all required training.
  • Understand general responsibilities toward the health, safety, and welfare of spectators, other stewards, staff, and oneself.

Essential and Desirable: Background in the fire industry (present/previous fire service) and willingness to undergo relevant training.
