At Fulham Football Club, we are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Assistant to support the Payroll Manager in delivering accurate and efficient payroll services across the Club. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a professional football environment, supporting payroll operations for a diverse workforce including players and club staff. The role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and the confidence to challenge and verify information where necessary.

The Payroll Assistant will report to the Payroll Manager.

Requirements

The role requires a diligent, detail-oriented team player who embraces challenges, demonstrates a strong capacity to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking an individual with the drive and capability not only to support the Payroll Manager but also to deputise in their absence.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll for all employees, including players and club personnel.
  • Ensure accuracy across all payroll elements, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, and statutory payments.
  • Review, challenge, and verify payroll inputs to ensure compliance with internal processes and regulations.
  • Support the Payroll Manager in maintaining payroll records and documentation.
  • Process payroll changes including new starters, leavers, and contractual amendments.
  • Assist with the administration of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other deductions.
  • Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure payroll-related data is aligned.
  • Handle payroll queries from employees, providing clear and timely responses.
  • Assist in preparing payroll reports for senior management and auditors.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR regulations in all payroll activities.
  • Reconcile and submit pension file to pensions provider.
  • Work collaboratively with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operation.

Essential:

  • Significant experience in payroll processing within a complex organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Ability to challenge and validate payroll requests with confidence.
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pensions.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Miracle payroll / Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
