Fulcrum Recruitment is working with a well-established regional civil engineering contractor that is looking to appoint a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer to support the delivery of a strong pipeline of civil engineering projects across the North East and North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys being site based, taking ownership of setting out, producing accurate site records and supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering schemes from start to finish.

The company delivers a range of design-and-build infrastructure and public realm projects, typically including highways, drainage, roads, footpaths, cycleways, retaining structures, flood alleviation and streetscape works. The work is regional, meaning no lodging away and the opportunity to be home every night.

The Role

As Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer, you will provide day-to-day engineering support to the site team, working closely with Site Agents, Project Managers, subcontractors and the wider delivery team. Your role will include setting out, surveying, QA, as-built records, technical checks, site coordination and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in line with specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate setting out for roads, drainage, structures, earthworks and public realm works
  • Use one-person robotic total station equipment confidently and accurately
  • Produce and maintain as-built surveys and site records
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications and construction information
  • Identify technical issues early and raise queries where required
  • Support QA, ITPs, inspections, handover information and digital records
  • Maintain daily diaries and accurate site documentation
  • Assist with short-term planning and programme coordination
  • Support safe working practices and maintain strong site standards
  • Communicate effectively with the site team, subcontractors and client representatives where required

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering
  • Experience on projects such as roads, drainage, highways, structures, public realm or similar civils works
  • Confident using robotic total station setting out equipment
  • HNC / HND or degree in Civil Engineering, or a similar construction-related qualification
  • CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good understanding of drawings, specifications, QA processes and site records
  • Basic AutoCAD skills would be beneficial
  • SSSTS / SMSTS and First Aid would be advantageous but are not essential
