The Role

As Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer, you will support the delivery of multiple earthworks and civil engineering schemes across the region. You will take ownership of setting out, surveying, levels, as-built records, QA documentation, volume checks and technical support across live sites. You will work closely with Site Managers, Contracts Managers, operatives, plant teams, subcontractors and the wider delivery team.

The role requires someone who is accurate, organised and able to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules, while identifying issues early and helping the team keep works on programme and to specification.

The contractor delivers a varied portfolio of earthworks and civil engineering packages across commercial developments, housing developments and specialist schemes. Typical works include bulk earthworks, cut and fill, platforms, enabling works, roads, drainage, remediation, external works and wider civils packages. The business operates multiple concurrent sites across the North East, supported by a stable direct workforce, modern plant and established digital engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate setting out and surveying across live earthworks and civil engineering sites.
  • Manage control, levels, as-builts, QA records, volume checks and site engineering documentation.
  • Use Trimble GPS, Trimble Machine Control and recognised survey software to support efficient site delivery.
  • Work with LSS, n4ce or similar software for surfaces, strings, volumes and data management.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and schedules, raising issues or programme risks at an early stage.
  • Support site teams with technical queries, progress reporting, quality checks and day-to-day coordination.
  • Liaise professionally with site management, operatives, subcontractors, supply chain partners and visiting stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer within civil engineering or earthworks.
  • Strong background in earthworks, platforms, cut and fill, roads, drainage, remediation, enabling works or similar civils packages.
  • Confident setting out and surveying across live construction sites.
  • Proficient with Trimble GPS and Trimble Machine Control.
  • Working knowledge of LSS, n4ce or similar earthworks / survey software would be highly beneficial.
  • HNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering would be advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence and a reliable, accurate and proactive approach to work.
