Fulcrum Recruitment is working with an established civil engineering contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of residential infrastructure and groundworks schemes across the North East. This is a permanent opportunity with a stable and growing contractor delivering roads, sewers, drainage, kerbing, plot works and associated housing infrastructure projects.

The role would suit a hands-on Site Engineer who is confident taking ownership on site, rather than simply assisting. You will be responsible for setting out, technical delivery, quality checks, site records and supporting the wider site team to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately and in line with programme.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will support the delivery of live residential infrastructure and civil engineering schemes across the region. You will work closely with Site Managers, subcontractors, operatives and the wider delivery team, helping to ensure works are set out correctly, technical issues are resolved quickly and site records are maintained properly. This role would suit someone who enjoys being on site, taking responsibility for their own workload and playing an important part in the successful delivery of housing infrastructure projects.

Project Types

The contractor delivers a range of residential infrastructure and groundworks schemes across the North East. Typical works include roads, sewers, drainage, kerbing, plot works, external works, levels, services coordination and wider civil engineering packages associated with housing developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out setting out for roads, sewers, drainage, kerbing, plot works and associated residential infrastructure.
  • Work from drawings, specifications and technical information to ensure accurate delivery on site.
  • Carry out surveys, levels, quality checks, as-built records and general site engineering duties.
  • Produce and maintain accurate site documentation, QA records and relevant engineering information.
  • Liaise with Site Managers, subcontractors, operatives and the wider delivery team.
  • Support site teams with technical queries, practical problem solving and progress against programme.
  • Help maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and workmanship across site activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering, groundworks or residential infrastructure.
  • Strong setting out experience across roads, sewers, drainage, kerbing, plot works or similar civils packages.
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and take ownership of engineering duties on site.
  • Confidence reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and technical information.
  • Experience with QA processes, surveys, levels, as-built records and site documentation.
  • CSCS card is required as a minimum.
  • SSSTS, SMSTS, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering would be advantageous but are not essential.

The Opportunity

This is a strong opportunity for a Site Engineer who enjoys being hands-on, taking responsibility on site and working across a steady flow of residential infrastructure and groundworks projects. The contractor has a healthy pipeline of secured and upcoming work across the North East, offering regional projects, long-term stability and the chance to join a business with repeat clients and ongoing growth.

Package

A competitive salary and wider company benefits package is available, dependent on experience. The role also offers regional work, a stable project pipeline and the opportunity to take real ownership of engineering duties across live housing infrastructure schemes.
