Fulcrum Recruitment is working with a well-established civil engineering main contractor that is looking to appoint a capable and driven Site Agent to support the delivery of civil engineering schemes across the Yorkshire region. This is a permanent opportunity with a respected principal contractor delivering a varied range of design-and-build infrastructure and public realm projects. The role will be based from the company’s office in Hatfield, Doncaster, with projects delivered across Yorkshire and the surrounding region.

The company delivers schemes typically ranging from £1m to £15m, with average project values generally sitting between £5m and £8m, and the capability to deliver larger schemes where required.

The Role

As Site Agent, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the successful delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards. You will lead site operations, coordinate direct labour and subcontractors, manage programme and progress, maintain site records and work closely with commercial, engineering and client teams. This role would suit an experienced Site Agent who is confident managing civils projects, leading site teams and maintaining high standards across health, safety, quality, programme and commercial performance.

Project Types

The contractor delivers a broad range of general civil engineering and infrastructure schemes, including new highway works, road adaptations, cycle paths, tow paths, footpaths, bridges, retaining walls, drainage, flood alleviation, public realm and streetscape improvements. Projects are delivered across the Yorkshire region, with current and secured work including areas such as Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Hull, Scunthorpe, Huddersfield, Brighouse, Elland, Bradford, Halifax, Kirklees, Harrogate and York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily site operations, setting high standards for health, safety, environmental performance, quality and productivity.
  • Manage inductions, toolbox talks, RAMS, permits, Construction Phase Plans, QA records and site documentation.
  • Coordinate direct labour, subcontractors, plant, materials and site resources to ensure works are delivered efficiently.
  • Support planning, sequencing, weekly lookaheads, progress monitoring, procurement schedules and programme updates.
  • Manage technical queries, information flow, document control and temporary works requirements in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, measurements, reports and commercial information to support variations, cost control and monthly reporting.
  • Chair or contribute to site meetings, client progress meetings and internal project reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams while maintaining a positive site culture.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Agent delivering civil engineering schemes for a contractor.
  • Experience on projects such as highways, drainage, roads, structures, public realm, flood alleviation or similar civils works.
  • HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would be beneficial.
  • CSCS card, SMSTS and a full UK driving licence are required.
  • Good understanding of site management, temporary works, RAMS, QA, programme, commercial records and NEC contract processes.
  • Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills, with the ability to manage site teams and client relationships effectively.
  • First Aid at Work, planning software experience and good IT skills would be advantageous.
