You and your team will build a new product from the ground up in three months. The team is small, flat, cross-functional, and operates in a founder-style environment where roles overlap and evolve. You will bridge the gap between user needs, technical constraints, and business value, merging the necessary elements that make truly excellent products. Individual performance matters, but success is ultimately measured by the progress of your team's startup.
You will:
- Care about and empathise with the end user.
- Hit the ground running and begin writing meaningful shipping code by the end of week one, so you will need to have relevant software development experience.
- Embrace core concepts and design patterns used in modern software engineering, including object-oriented, protocol-oriented, and reactive programming.
- Review code from peer engineers to promulgate best practices.
- Communicate development status to stakeholders—technical or otherwise.
- Learn and leverage relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes in your development efforts.
- Define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements and constraints for product initiatives and releases.
- Collaborate with your teammates to prioritise product enhancements based on impact.
- Communicate development status and document progress toward milestones.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or advanced degree from a top-tier university.
- Entrepreneurial work style; you are a self-starter with a bias towards action.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Experience developing in a high-level programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or Swift.
- Open-minded and willing to learn new things.
- Empathetic.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
