Our purpose is to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. As a 2nd Line WINTEL Engineer, you will contribute to this by working with new technologies within a team that values the sharing of ideas to build a better service.

Your role will involve:

  • Reviewing Customer Windows related work requests with quick turn‑around responses for more complete and detailed requirements.
  • Using automation, building images, build documents, work instructions, and configuring Windows Servers (the majority being virtual and hosted on VMware clusters).
  • Building and racking of physical servers with Customer DC and computer rooms.
  • Updating and maintaining existing gold build images.
  • Patching and upgrades of Windows servers.
  • Capacity Management Reporting & attending Bi‑Weekly Engineering meetings providing progress updates on outstanding tickets.
  • Ensuring server builds adhere to Fujitsu and Customer standards for all areas of work undertaken.
  • Attending Customer and Fujitsu sites when required to ensure deliverables are completed within target SLA’s and KPI’s.
  • Raising any risks or issues that may impact costs, delivery to timescales, or overall solution deployments.
  • Assisting in testing activities.

The successful applicant may also engage in projects further afield from time to time. Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

You will be working from assigned service desk tickets to investigate, assess and resolve customer and system issues in timescales laid down in SLA’s in accordance with defined procedures and adhere to all IS Policy documents, including Change & Release, Configuration, and Security etc.

Maintain the security of the network services in accordance with the Establishment’s Security Operating Orders and current process documentation.

  • Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022
  • AD (Active Directory), DNS, WSUS
  • VMware
  • Backups (NetApp SAN and Cohesity)
  • Microsoft System Centre Operations
  • Scripting

This role will require you to become security cleared to a high level.

Hours of work: Our support requirements are Mon‑Fri between 0700 & 1900. You will cover 37 hours over the week with a typical day from 0700 – 1530 or 1030 – 1900. There is no weekend working, however overtime may be available, which may include weekends.
