Location & Security Clearance: Flexible / London / M4 Corridor (with UK&I travel as required). Eligible and willing to undergo high level UK Government Security Clearance.

As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will contribute to this by supporting campaign‑led business development activity across Defence & National Security, helping to create consistent, high‑quality engagement and opportunity development that underpins Fujitsu’s long‑term role in safeguarding the UK and its allies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support BD Director across multiple campaigns, helping to progress engagement, opportunity shaping and campaign activity.
  • Assist with preparation and follow‑up for customer and partner engagements, including briefings, agendas, actions and stakeholder mapping.
  • Draft, coordinate and manage campaign and opportunity documentation, including campaign plans, opportunity summaries and internal briefing packs.
  • Capture insight from customer and partner engagements and feed this into campaign, opportunity and pipeline activity.
  • Support opportunity progression across the pre‑contract lifecycle, ensuring information is clear, consistent and well‑structured.
  • Maintain campaign and opportunity information to a high standard, supporting pipeline management, governance and review activity.
  • Promote consistency in BD processes, tools and ways of working across the team.
  • Contribute to partner and teaming activity by coordinating inputs and supporting engagement activity.
  • Act as a flexible, deployable team resource, adjusting focus across campaigns and priorities as required.

Experience & Skills

  • Relevant professional experience: Typically 3–5 years in a role such as business development, consulting, delivery, project management or a comparable customer‑facing or commercial support role, within a complex or regulated environment.
  • Interest in Defence & National Security: A strong interest in Defence & National Security markets and a clear motivation to build a career in business development within this domain.
  • Campaign and opportunity support: Experience supporting complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives or pursuits, with exposure to opportunity shaping, customer engagement or pre‑contract activity.
  • Communication and documentation skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, high‑quality documentation and briefing materials for a range of stakeholders.
  • Organisation and delivery discipline: Well‑organised and proactive, able to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively and maintain momentum across parallel activities.
  • Collaborative ways of working: Comfortable working as part of a team, supporting senior colleagues, and collaborating across functions to achieve shared objectives.
  • Commercial awareness: Curiosity and awareness of customer challenges, market dynamics and commercial drivers, with an interest in how opportunities are shaped and progressed.

Measures of Success (First 12–18 Months)

  • Effective campaign and opportunity support: Consistently providing high‑quality support across multiple campaigns, enabling BD Directors to progress engagements and opportunities efficiently.
  • Quality and consistency of outputs: Production of clear, well‑structured and timely campaign and opportunity documentation that supports engagement, governance and bid readiness.
  • Positive team feedback: Strong feedback from BD Director, bid teams and delivery colleagues on reliability, quality of contribution and collaborative working.
  • Improved process discipline and visibility: Demonstrable improvement in the consistency, accuracy and completeness of campaign and opportunity information across the Business Development team.
  • Development of BD capability: Clear progression in understanding Defence & National Security markets, opportunity shaping and campaign working, with readiness to take on increased responsibility over time.
