We are seeking a Maritime Node Engineer capable of working in a multi‑discipline environment and managing multi‑thread projects in hostile settings where 9‑5 does not apply. In partnership with the MOD, the Maritime Project delivers solutions onboard vessels on very tight timescales. The role requires wide experience with industry hardware products (CISCO, Riverbed, HP, Panasonic, XEROX, Epson, Dell, APC & OKI) and working knowledge of Microsoft and VMware to implement customer solutions from factory to vessel. You will also represent Fujitsu to customers in the best possible manner.
Responsibilities
- Undertake all hardware installation activities across multi‑vessel environments including removals, installation, factory & harbour acceptance testing and post‑handover activities.
- Implement software solutions across multi‑vessel environments: node build, assurance/commissioning, live/federation requirements, patch/hotfix updates, factory acceptance trials, and installation & support phases.
- Act as Vessel Lead when nominated, issuing daily reports on time.
- Maintain the Technical Knowledge Base for information sharing, fault finding & trend analysis.
- Follow all maritime software & installation builds, escalating issues to the appropriate technical SMEs.
- Escalate health & safety concerns to the appropriate Maritime Delivery Technical Lead.
- Ensure procedures & processes meet Fujitsu D&NS and local LSO security directives, including handling classified equipment and secure data control.
- Identify training requirements for technical upgrades on OpNET & MINERVA Nodes.
Required Skills and Experience
- Understanding of maritime and land deployment environments.
- Marine electrical background and knowledge of electrical power distribution.
- Hardware product knowledge (CISCO, Riverbed, HP, Panasonic, XEROX, Epson, Dell, APC & OKI).
- Applicable engineering standards for defence environments.
- Health & safety knowledge (COSHH, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills.
