In this role, you will lead the expansion, development, and continuous improvement of microbial and mammalian manufacturing at the UK site. A member of the Site Leadership Team, the VP Operations is accountable for all manufacturing assets and supply chain. The post holder will lead successful delivery of the new commercial manufacturing stream Borealis of the FDBK business.

Role & Responsibilities

  1. Member of Site Senior Leadership team reporting directly into the Head of Site.
  2. Ensure all commercial and clinical products manufactured are safe for human use, by the implementation and auditing of GMP procedures and practices. The job holder will be the nominated FDBK Production Manager on all site MHRA licences held for MF1,2,3, 4, 5 and MCC & Borealis manufacturing.
  3. Set and deliver the operations fixed costs budget, to deliver maximum business benefit from the installed assets. Track and deliver fixed cost and performance targets for manufacturing operations ensuring that FDB management is informed of a latest view and corrective actions are identified and taken when required.
  4. Define and deliver the incremental change programme for the operations team, maintaining consistency with strategic changes driven by the development of a large-scale commercial manufacturing capability.
  5. Own and communicate the Operations vision for FDBK, creating a strategy to balance the demands of business as usual and expansion projects.
  6. Ensure operations at all times have an up-to-date pre-approval inspection readiness plan in place.
  7. Lead and develop high standards of Safety, Health and Environmental practice within all areas of responsibility.
  8. Maintain and improve the site right first-time manufacturing performance through effective and appropriate people management and training.
  9. As a member of the Site Leadership Team contribute to the site goals and objectives to ensure the long-term success of FDBK.
  10. Ensure the sustainability of the manufacturing & supply chain teams by having an effective succession plan which identifies key talent within the team.
  11. Creating policies and practices that will have a long-term impact on the organisation’s success.

Qualifications And Experience

  1. Science, Technical or Engineering Degree
  2. A minimum of ten years’ experience in a manufacturing/operations role post degree within a GMP environment
  3. A minimum of 8 years’ operating at a senior leadership level
  4. A minimum of 5 years working in a GMP bioscience/pharma industry
  5. Experience of leading teams of greater than 10 staff including experience of defining objectives
  6. Experience of setting long term strategic goals and objectives
  7. Experience managing and ownership of P&L for assets including data analysis to ensure data driven decisions.
  8. Experience in Change Management and or Transformation Projects
  9. Ability to reach decisions objectively, consistently and fairly, using discretion where appropriate.
