Join Fugro as our UK Vehicle Fleet and Dangerous Goods Manager and take ownership of a vital operational function that keeps our business moving. You will be the central point of expertise for all fleet activity across the UK ensuring every vehicle is safe, compliant and ready to support our teams. This role blends hands-on operational oversight with strategic influence as you work with leaders across the organisation to improve efficiency, strengthen compliance and support our environmental goals.

You will lead the full lifecycle of fleet management from maintenance and inspections to telematics and driver standards while also overseeing dangerous goods compliance. You will guide best practice, manage incidents, support investigations and maintain accurate audit-ready records. Your ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships will help you influence decisions and promote a strong safety culture across the organisation.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for all fleet related queries
  • Direct and coordinate vehicle operations within company policies and procedures
  • Ensure all fleet policies are communicated and followed
  • Carry out internal audits and support continuous improvement activities
  • Update and amend company procedures related to vehicle operations
  • Manage inspection, repair and maintenance of all vehicles to ensure safety and roadworthiness
  • Ensure all statutory vehicle certifications are kept up to date
  • Maintain accurate vehicle location and service records
  • Monitor and report compliance with legislation including driver hours, tachograph rules and operator licence conditions
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the organisation
  • Ensure accurate mileage data is captured for HMRC reporting
  • Track and report benefit in kind risk areas to the tax team and people services
  • Maintain audit ready records for all vehicles and drivers
  • Establish and maintain compulsory and operational training to meet national standards
  • Manage all vehicle accidents and incidents
  • Lead investigations into vehicle incidents and identify root causes and actions
  • Liaise with insurance teams on incident reporting, repairs and fleet insurance renewals
  • Act as the central contact for all hire vehicle requests including order processing
  • Oversee vehicle sale or disposal in line with environmental and company policies
  • Manage and coordinate all vehicle notices including speeding, emissions zone violations, tolls and parking fines
  • Monitor emissions, fuel efficiency and environmental impact
  • Manage and oversee the use of company fuel cards
  • Ensure dangerous goods processes and procedures are current and communicated
  • Brief relevant teams on correct handling of dangerous goods

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Must have Fleet Management experience (at least 3 years)
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of UK vehicle regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing fleet operations and vehicle maintenance
  • Understanding of dangerous goods transport regulations
  • Ability to conduct audits and maintain accurate records
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently and make confident decisions
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on raising performance standards
