This is an exciting opportunity for an early‑career engineer eager to deepen their expertise, work alongside industry specialists and build strong client relationships in a fast‑evolving sector.

If you are passionate about geotechnical engineering and have experience of marine geotechnics, keen to grow your technical capabilities and motivated by collaborative problem‑solving, we would love to hear from you.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine geotechnical engineering analyses, including developing soil parameters, foundation assessments and preparing high‑quality technical reports for clients.
  • Undertake non‑standard or more complex geotechnical analyses under the guidance of senior consultants.
  • Supervise and support junior team members, ensuring quality control of technical work and deliverables.
  • Provide technical and procedural training to colleagues as needed.
  • Develop technical solutions that meet client needs and contribute to the preparation of costed proposals and bids.
  • Support business development activities by helping to build client relationships and promote Fugro’s geotechnical capabilities.
  • Act as project manager for assigned studies, coordinating tasks, managing budgets and schedules, and integrating inputs from other discipline teams.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in specific technical areas to enhance team performance and service quality.
  • Ensure full compliance with QHSSE standards and uphold Fugro’s commitment to safe, high‑quality project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams across geoscience, geology, GIS, commercial, and laboratory functions to deliver integrated project outcomes.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline such as Soil Mechanics of Engineering Geology.
  • Post‑graduate qualification in Soil Mechanics or equivalent; a PhD is desirable.
  • Experience in a geotechnical engineering environment (industry experience preferred including demonstratable marine experience).
  • Experience in marine foundation design is essential.
  • Strong numerical modelling capability and a highly numerate approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience supervising or supporting junior team members is beneficial.
  • Working towards, or already holding, Professional Chartered status (preferred).
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis tools such as PLAXIS or Abaqus (preferred).
  • Ability to code in Python or develop Excel macros is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to independently process and interpret geo‑data.
  • A proactive approach to learning, client engagement, and delivering high‑quality results.
