Fugro offers an exciting opportunity to join the Marine Site Characterisation (MSC) team as a Project Controller. In this vital role you will provide financial oversight and business analysis to the Marine Geophysical Service line in accordance with accounting guidelines and project‑specific requirements. You will play a large part in ensuring projects run smoothly, safely and effectively, shaping how the team delivers and progresses and continuously improving ways of working. You will be accountable for ensuring accurate financial information is delivered to all stakeholders, reporting to the UK Marine Geophysical Business Controller and working closely with the Service Line Director, Project and Commercial Teams, and the wider Fugro Finance Team.
Your Role And Responsibilities
- Financial oversight of projects within Marine Geophysical, with responsibility for providing Service Line Management with accurate and timely financial information.
- Assisting in preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts to support effective project planning.
- Generating and maintaining financial reports related to project performance, providing insights into financial status and variances.
- Conducting financial analysis to predict potential outcomes and supporting decision‑making processes.
- Supporting the Project Management Team to ensure a sound project management and control culture is in place.
- Reviewing Tender Calculation and Financial Risk Exposure.
- Ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely submission of monthly financial reporting.
- Implementing and driving the monthly project reporting and project review process with support of Project Managers.
- Monitoring working capital and cash flow management.
- Supporting, monitoring and challenging CAPEX applications.
- Implementing and promoting adherence to Revenue Recognition procedures, in compliance with Fugro and accounting policy.
- Acting as a sounding board and business partner to the Service Line Management Team and other key stakeholders and proactively offering guidance, advice and challenge on financial topics.
- Providing any additional support required by the UK Business Controller, MSC Regional Business Controller or the Service Line Management Team.
What You’ll Need To Thrive In This Role
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, or equivalent vocational qualifications and experience.
- Accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ICAS) preferred but not essential.
- PC literate, with strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail with well‑developed analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet project and month‑end deadlines.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to use initiative to achieve defined goals.
- Flexible and proactive in approach to work.
