We have an exciting opportunity to join our Marine Site Characterisation (MSC) Team in a Project Controller capacity. This role is a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months based in our Aberdeen office in Bridge of Don. The candidate will receive an annual salary along with Fugro's Comprehensive benefits package.

In this vital role for Fugro, you will provide financial oversight and business analysis to the Marine Geophysical Service line in accordance with accounting guidelines and project-specific requirements. You’ll play a huge part in ensuring our projects run smoothly, safely and effectively. You’ll have the chance to shape how this team delivers and progresses, continuously improving ways of working. In this role, you’ll be accountable for ensuring accurate financial information is delivered to all stakeholders.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Financial oversight of projects within Marine Geophysical, with responsibility for providing Service Line Management with accurate and timely financial information.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts to support effective project planning.
  • Generating and maintaining financial reports related to project performance, providing insights into financial status and variances through clear understanding of the relevant business.
  • Conducting financial analysis to predict potential outcomes and helping in decision-making processes.
  • Support the Project Management Team to ensure a sound project management and control culture is in place.
  • Review Tender Calculation and Financial Risk Exposure.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and timely submission of monthly financial reporting.
  • Implement and drive the monthly project reporting and project review process with support of Project Managers.
  • Monitor working capital and cashflow management.
  • Support, monitor and challenge CAPEX applications.
  • Implement and promote adherence to Revenue Recognition procedures, in compliance with Fugro and accounting policy.
  • Act as a sounding board and business partner to the Service Line Management Team and other key stakeholders and proactively offer guidance, advice and challenge on financial topics.
  • Any other support required by the UK Business Controller, MSC Regional Business Controller or the Service Line Management Team.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline OR equivalent vocational qualifications and experience.
  • An Accounting Qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ICAS) is preferred but not essential.
  • PC literate, particularly with strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with well developed analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet project and month end deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to use own initiative to achieve defined goals.
  • Flexible and has an adaptable and proactive approach to work.
