Location: Wallingford (Office) + travel to offshore project sites
Work Environment: On-site (onshore laboratory) and offshore rotations
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week onshore; offshore shifts operate in 12‐hour rotations
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Deliver high‐quality geotechnical data by processing, logging and testing soil and rock samples in line with Fugro procedures and relevant standards (e.g., BS5930, Eurocode 7, ISO).
- Support offshore site investigations by performing in‐situ testing, laboratory work and accurate data recording during shift-based operations.
- Ensure all data whether logged, tested, processed or interpreted is complete, accurate and ready for integration into project deliverables.
- Maintain high safety and quality standards, including compliance with QHSE procedures and RPE requirements where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Conduct core logging, basic geotechnical testing, thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity testing in both onshore and offshore settings.
- Enter, process and validate data using spreadsheets and in‐house software such as GeODin and GERRIT, including calculations and QA/QC checks.
- Assist in equipment calibration, maintenance and inventory, ensuring smooth operation of the logging facility and offshore lab.
- Support training of team members and contribute to generation of project deliverables and reports.
- Collaborate effectively across teams including laboratory staff, project managers, QHSE teams and client representatives to meet project objectives.
What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering, Geology or a related discipline.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
- A foundation-level understanding of soil and rock logging principles, or a willingness to build this knowledge through on‐the‐job training.
- Willingness and physical ability to work in environments involving standing for extended periods (8–12 hours) and undertaking offshore shift work.
- Flexibility to travel offshore and to Fugro facilities as required, with support and training provided.
