Telecoms Field Engineer – PDH/SDH/Radio/Xtran – Scotland – £360 Per Day (OUTSIDE IR35) + van + fuel
Our client are looking for a Field Engineers to be part of their SPEN team to provide a professional field engineering service for provide and assure activities on their Scottish Power contract throughout Scotland.
What will you be doing?
You must be available to provide 24/7/365 support to ensure activities and routine maintenance work for our key utility suppliers upon completion of the required authorisations. Working alongside our project engineers on projects and ensuring delivery to achieve the benefits expected by both the client and the company. Be able to manage risk and costs, and ensure all quality and health & safety requirements are met. Hold a technical knowledge of networking principles, having operated in both providing and ensuring delivery space and has a proven track record of successful technical project implementation across various delivery solutions.
What will your key responsibilities be?
- Ensure projects are completed in a manner that ensures delivery to the time, cost, quality, health & safety parameters agreed with the client whilst conforming to project engineering standards and others as agreed with the client.
- Ensure the project is completed to the quality and health & safety standards required.
- Complete project documentation as required by the project engineer.
- Monitor progress against plan and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify issues and risks and escalate appropriately.
- Provide timely and quality communication to all stakeholders.
- Ensure technical, test and quality plans as agreed are delivered to the project engineer.
- Ensure the necessary project administration is carried out.
- Provision of assured activities on 24 x 7 x 365 basis, adhering to our agreed contractual SLA targets.
- Completion of nominated RMI activities.
- Recommend improvements and cost reductions where identified.
- Completion of customer minor orders.
- To be part of a stand-by (on-call) rota supporting the business out of hours.
What competencies are we looking for?
- Demonstrable field engineering and assurance of activity experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer Skills
- Work in a structured and methodical way.
- Ability to work to the applicable standards.
- Scottish Power work authorisations are required, but training will be provided.
- Excellent customer service.
- Installation of Networks & equipment.
- Commtel/SDH/Nokia/Radio HRF
Technical/Professional Qualifications:
- Proven track record in the installation and support of DC Charger, PDH, SDH, Comtel, Microwave radio, Nokia sub rack technologies DC & AC experienced.
- Knowledge of Cisco & Alcatel products.
- HNC in Telecommunications (or equivalent)
- LAN & WAN Internetworking skills
