Fuel Recruitment is working with a leading organisation within the data centre and infrastructure sector that is looking for a Construction Manager to join their team. This role will take ownership of construction delivery across major substation, data centre and secure retrofit projects, ensuring programmes, budgets, quality standards and stakeholder expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating contractors, consultants and client stakeholders while driving projects through the RIBA stages to successful handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage construction activities across assigned data centre, substation and secure build projects, ensuring delivery against programme, cost and quality objectives.
  • Develop, maintain and update Project Execution Plans, project risk registers and construction reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure contractors, consultants and key stakeholders fulfil their contractual obligations across all relevant RIBA stages.
  • Monitor quality assurance and quality control processes, attend inspections where required, and manage non-conformance and defect notification procedures.
  • Coordinate project changes, risks and commercial considerations with project teams and cost consultants.
  • Lead construction-to-operations handover activities, ensuring all documentation, information and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customer visits, stakeholder escalations and project communications.
  • Support pre-construction activities including requirements gathering, procurement support, review of pricing proposals and planning compliance.

Key Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in construction management or project management.
  • Previous experience delivering data centre or healthcare construction projects is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and construction project delivery processes.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and associated duty holder responsibilities.
  • SMSTS certification and a valid CSCS card appropriate to the role.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders and project documentation simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project management software.
