Fuel Recruitment is working with a leading telecommunications and utilities organisation supporting a critical regional network across the North West and Wales. They are looking for a Field Engineer to play a key role in the delivery, maintenance and upgrade of a large-scale operational telecoms network. This is a hands-on, field-based role offering exposure to complex technologies, live environments and nationally significant infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the safe, compliant and on-time delivery of project and maintenance activities across a live telecoms network.
  • Assist Project and Senior Project Managers with project scoping, planning and delivery.
  • Install, configure, commission and maintain telecoms and network infrastructure to a high standard.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis, testing and resolution across IP, fibre and RF systems.
  • Complete site surveys, technical documentation and handover packs for completed works.
  • Work safely at all times in line with Health & Safety procedures, RAMS and site rules.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven field-based engineering experience within telecommunications or network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, MPLS / MPLS-TP – CCNA level or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with routers, switches and firewalls (Cisco ASR / ISR highly desirable).
  • Experience working in operational environments such as data centres and substations.
  • Familiarity with PDH/SDH and Nokia platforms (SAR-H, NMFP).
  • Experience carrying out industry-standard testing (BERT, RF sweeps, PIM, TDR, OTDR, OSCAR).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • SPEN authorisations (highly desirable).

  • Strong planning and organisational skills across multi-site activities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Safety-focused mindset with strong compliance and commercial awareness.
