Civil Engineer (Drainage & Highways) – Bromsgrove – Permanent
Fuel Recruitment is working with a well-established engineering consultancy that is looking for a Civil Engineer to support the delivery of drainage, flood risk and highways design across a range of residential and commercial developments. This role will focus on producing high-quality technical work to support planning applications, detailed design packages, and statutory submissions. You’ll be joining an office-based team in Bromsgrove, working closely with developers, architects, and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare drainage strategies to support planning applications
- Produce Flood Risk Assessments
- Prepare detailed drainage drawings, including SuDS and below-ground systems, across residential and commercial schemes
- Submit drainage applications to water authorities and planning departments
- Design highways, private roads, and car parks, including levels, kerbs, and surface build-ups
- Prepare and submit highways drawings and relevant applications
- Liaise with architects, developers, contractors, planners, and statutory bodies
- Prepare fee proposals and support new project opportunities
Key Skills / Experience
- Proven experience preparing drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments
- Hydraulic modelling experience (preferred but not essential)
- Strong understanding of SuDS and general drainage design
- Experience producing detailed drawings for developments of varying scale
- Competent highways design capability
- Confident communicating with clients, consultants, and authorities
- Ability to manage workload and support business development
