Responsible for: Leading our team of Apprenticeship Coaches

About the Role

At Fuel Learning, we take pride in delivering apprenticeship programmes that are meaningful, relevant and have measurable impact. As our Apprenticeship Coach Lead, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the learner experience, driving the performance of our coaching team and ensuring consistent, compliant and high-quality delivery across our leadership apprenticeship offer from Level 3 to Level 7.

This role blends the core accountabilities of apprenticeship quality assurance and compliance leadership. You’ll ensure that all learners make timely progress, portfolios are built to an exceptional standard and performance metrics are consistently met and exceeded. You’ll lead and coach your team to deliver programmes that not only meet DfE funding rules and Ofsted expectations but, most importantly, genuinely transform workplace capability.

What You’ll Be Doing

Quality & Compliance Leadership

  • Set and uphold high standards for quality and compliance across the coaching team, ensuring submissions, progress, and achievement align with internal benchmarks and external regulatory expectations.
  • Lead on standardisation, quality sampling and developmental feedback to ensure consistency of delivery and assessment.
  • Oversee compliance with funding requirements and ensure audit-readiness across all documentation and learner records.
  • Monitor and improve qualification achievement rates, learner retention and break-in-learning minimisation.

KPI Ownership & Performance Management

  • Define and track key performance indicators including learner progress, on-time submissions, EPA readiness, retention, gateway completion and achievement.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and coaching sessions to support your team’s development and hold accountability for results.
  • Identify and address underperformance promptly and supportively, balancing challenge with care.
  • Monitor CPD engagement across your team and drive upskilling against emerging trends, standards and business priorities.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing and learner-centred culture within the coaching team.
  • Support coaches in tailoring their support to meet diverse learner needs, including those requiring additional learning support or reasonable adjustments.
  • Champion the Fuel approach to coaching – one that builds confidence, capability and measurable workplace impact.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of internal CPD sessions, particularly around quality, assessment practice, and coaching methodology.

Operational Collaboration

  • Work closely with Programme Managers, Operations, Compliance and Design teams to ensure learning journeys are viable, relevant and consistently delivered.
  • Lead preparation for external quality assurance visits, audits and end-point assessment moderation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, drawing insights from data, learner feedback and sector developments.

What You’ll Bring

  • A proven background in leading apprenticeship delivery, ideally within the leadership and management space (Levels 3 to 7).
  • Deep understanding of ESFA funding rules, Ofsted expectations and EPA preparation.
  • Confidence managing performance using data – you know how to track, analyse and act on KPIs.
  • Experience of coaching and developing others, including performance conversations, mentoring and leading standardisation activity.
  • A strong grasp of what great learning looks like – and how to support teams to deliver it.
  • A positive, proactive and collaborative mindset – with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
