About the Role :
As Finance Controller you will have overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day accounting function and will use your expertise to maintain and develop group reporting, whilst ensuring the business is compliant with internal guidelines and procedures and external regulatory requirements. In addition, this role will work closely with the Credit Director, to create operational and commercial efficiencies in the credit control department.
The role will report directly to the Finance Director, and work alongside the leadership team as required. The role will primarily be based at the Company’s head office in Leeds, with the added flexibility of hybrid working if desired.
With the successful growth of FCS to date and continued ambitious plans for growth and development, this is an exciting and demanding role for an experienced self‑starting finance executive with drive, determination and the ambition to progress her / his career and work in a dynamic, highly commercial and growth focussed environment.
Group Reporting, Financial Control and Compliance :
- Ensure the accuracy, quality and timeliness of monthly and yearly reporting to Group
- Ensure the accuracy, quality and timeliness of 3 Year Plan and Budget to Group
- Management of the monthly balance sheet review processes; constant evolution of the control processes in place
- Identification of balance sheet risks and subsequent mitigation
- Compliance and management of all external audit, internal audit, HMRC and corporate governance requirements
- Management and control of banking
- Support the Commercial Accountant in the budgeting and forecasting process
- Review and forecast working capital on a regular basis, and understand key drivers and variances
Performance Management & Financial Analysis
- Evolution of management accounts, variance analysis, KPIs and stakeholder reports
- Review current GL, cost centre and profit centre structure and adapt as required to increase granularity of management accounts
- Build budget submission templates and control submission process from key stakeholders and challenge as required
- Responsible for reported overheads, presenting variance analysis from budget and prior year
- Responsible for reported working capital, presenting variance analysis from budget and prior year
- Ongoing review of current processes to drive further efficiencies.
- Management of purchase ledger / accounts and payment / invoice process
- Provide support and guidance to the credit control departments, ensuring the company credit policy is adhered to. Improving the credit policy and processes periodically with the Credit Director to ensure the right balance between risk and commercial decision making.
- Provide commercial support and analysis to other stake holders in the business, including but not limited to Marketing, Sales, Pricing and IT
- Responsible for consolidation reporting
- Responsible for submitting and managing capital expenditure requests
Managerial
- Day to day management of 4 direct reports
- Ensure robust performance management is embedded across Finance
- Ensure a culture of compliance is embedded within the Finance function while also helping to create an enjoyable working environment for the teams
Requirements
- Visible and credible leadership skills.
- Previous experience in a Senior Finance role.
- Qualified Accountant.
- Strong attention to detail and focussed on driving KPI performance.
- Knowledge of SAP is preferable.
- Hard working with strong personal integrity.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
