Class 1 Driver –
Our drivers can be based anywhere across mainland UK.
Base Salary: £41,620.67
On-Target Earnings (OTE): Up to £49,300
Unique opportunity to drive for the British Army under a commercial contract. Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver looking for a new challenge and something truly different from the norm? FTX Logistics Ltd provides a commercial service operating Heavy Equipment Transporters (HETs) to deliver heavy military equipment on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.
What the Role Involves
As an FTX Driver, you will have a unique three-part role combining commercial driving with military support duties :
1. Commercial Operations
Operate HET vehicles from our depots in Bulford (Wiltshire) and Catterick (North Yorkshire).
Occasionally work from our Monchengladbach, Germany depot for short assignments (typically 24 weeks).
When not driving HETs, you will work with a local driving agency near your home, undertaking HGV driving for their clients.
Become part of a highly skilled, specialist team supporting one of the most respected logistics operations in the UK.
2. Military Responsibilities
Become a Sponsored Reservist (SR) in the British Army, working closely with 19 Tank Transporter Squadron.
Undertake military training and support exercises and operations as required.
Any military commitment is part of your paid role, not done in your own time.
Salary & Benefits
Base Salary: £41,620.67
On-Target Earnings (OTE): Up to £49,300
Additional Benefits:
- All travel, accommodation, and subsistence covered when working away.
- Weekend enhancements: 50% uplift on Saturdays, 100% uplift on Sundays.
- Company pension, life insurance, and subsidised travel to work.
- Option to lease an electric vehicle through a salary sacrifice scheme.
Military Enhancements (when applicable):
- Up to 50% pay uplift when deployed as a Sponsored Reservist.
- Annual reservist bonus: From £480 (Year 1) up to £1,970 (Year 5).
Requirements
Commercial
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Valid CPC and Tachograph cards.
Military
- Must be willing to join the British Army as a Sponsored Reservist.
- You must be a British or Irish citizen, or hold a Commonwealth / British Overseas Territory / BNO passport with Indefinite Leave to Remain.
- Age under 50 on the day of application.
- Medically fit for military service.
