We’re looking for a Materials Engineer with curiosity in their DNA and a passion for transforming raw materials into world class solutions. FTV Proclad International Limited is a worldwide market and technological leader in the protective weld cladding of pipeline components covering Oil & Gas, UK Ministry of Defense and Renewables. The company is part of a larger Group whose head office is based in Dubai and are one of the largest CRA weld overlay providers worldwide.

A competitive market wage will be offered depending on experience/qualifications. Benefits of employment include 33 days holiday per year on a pro‑rata basis (including public holidays), an employer pension contribution, private health care benefits, and life insurance.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analysing metals to shape the performance, reliability, and future of the products that depend on them.
  • Performing technical reviews of project specifications, drawings, purchase orders and national standards to validate compliance at quotation stage.
  • Liaising directly with internal and external stakeholders on materials engineering/metallurgy matters.
  • Ensuring that all allocated work scopes are fully compliant with applicable product and quality standards.
  • Supporting quality review forums aimed at reducing any rework.
  • Creating performance related dispositions, identifying corrective actions and preventative measures for any materials/induction bend quality issues.
  • Assisting with the development of new and existing equipment.
  • Supporting the continuous development and improvement of induction bending procedures and policies.
  • Translating drawings and design requirements into bend requirements and developing the method of qualification in‑line with relevant codes, standards and client specifications.
  • Preparing/reviewing all documents required for production bending ensuring that all areas of the contract are addressed and recorded.
  • Detailing all heat treatment requirements to production and reviewing documentation on completion of heat treatment.
  • Development, qualification, and application of bending procedures.
  • Preparing/reviewing all procedures and procedure qualifications to ensure their suitability for the required contract.
  • Controlling chemical, corrosion, and mechanical testing, assessing test results in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Reviewing the suitability of bending equipment for the scope of work required and providing input for necessary maintenance and calibration of bending equipment.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum of Material Science Technologist (Level 6), Materials Process Engineer (Level 7) qualification or a degree specializing in a specific group of materials and their uses, such as metallurgy, materials engineering.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of hot forming processes.
  • Knowledge of materials standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel packages.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Member of a professional institution (i.e. IOM3).
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of Q‑Pulse.
