The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, dimensionally accurate parts through skilled machining practices, contributing to the efficient and timely completion of manufacturing projects. The machinist is responsible for setting up machines, selecting appropriate tooling, performing accurate measurements, and adhering to safety and quality standards throughout the production process. An individual who has an eye for detail and takes pride in producing a quality product will fit this role perfectly.
To assist in the production of components to customer specifications, an individual will need to:
- Load and unload pipes into machines.
- Set up and operation of pipe lathe and HBM machines.
- Machine bores and weld prep angles of pipe to drawing and or specification.
- Dimensional verification on machine and machined surfaces.
- De-rag machined surfaces on machine.
- Interpret work orders and drawings to determine production specification and information.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a clean and organised work environment.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Maintain equipment and report any maintenance or repair needs.
A successful candidate shall need to be able to demonstrate that they have the skills and experience to be:
- At least 5 years of experience in a comparable machining role.
- Proficient in operating manual lathes and Horizontal Borer, understanding machining principles.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and machining techniques.
- Good process and product knowledge.
- Able to adapt to different situations which may require flexibility on working hours.
- Able to use initiative.
- Well organised and able to manage time.
- Ensuring best works practices are employed.
- To ensure that Customer requirements are being achieved.
