Fortrea's Clinical Research Unit in Leeds is where life‑saving medicines begin their journey. You’ll be part of a team that asks one crucial question: will this new medicine be safe? If you enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment, speaking with people and contributing to meaningful research while keeping flexibility in your schedule, this could be a great fit.

This is a Bank (0‑hours) position with shifts Monday to Sunday, including weekends, twilight and night shifts, based on availability. During busier periods, you could work up to 37 hours per week; the number of hours offered can vary week to week depending on operational needs. Office‑based at our Drapers Yard Clinical Research Unit, just a 7‑minute walk from the train station.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sample processing and dispatch according to study‑specific instructions and to the highest possible quality (blood, urine, faecal, vomit and safety samples).
  • Deliver quality data and document results on time, strictly according to protocols, Lab Manuals, SOPs, and in compliance with ICH/GCP.
  • Recognise deviations from expected results (as per protocol or Lab Manual) and follow up appropriately.
  • Assist with study set‑up (tubes, labels, right chemicals, etc.).
  • Perform inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Handle hazardous materials, reagents and chemicals safely in accordance with laboratory policy.
  • Maintain equipment and laboratory cleanliness, including washing glassware.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education, including Maths & English.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Some experience in a laboratory setting; familiar with basic laboratory techniques, procedures and equipment. A scientific background or degree is not required.
  • Great attention to detail, practical, curious and keen to learn; full training will be provided.
