About the Role: The FTI real estate tax transactions team provides a holistic client offering and frequently acts as an extension of the client’s internal team. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients, develop an understanding of their business plan and strategic objectives, and contribute to key decision-making processes. Typical projects include:

  • Tax and financial due diligence
  • Advising on transaction documentation (including SPAs)
  • Tax structuring for fund and joint venture formations and acquisitions
  • Ongoing advisory projects
  • Vendor assist workstreams

The team predominantly advises on UK projects with international aspects, but also manages an increasing number of European transactions. You will work closely with client deal and finance teams, as well as other stakeholders such as lawyers and administrators, gaining insight into the commercial drivers behind transactions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Leading tax due diligence on corporate real estate acquisitions, including reviewing reports and drafting technical analysis.
  • Leading tax structuring work for acquisitions, refinancing, reorganisations, and disposals.
  • Developing relationships with existing and target clients and other connectors (e.g. lawyers).
  • Supporting clients on related (non-tax specific) workstreams.
  • Assisting clients with tax modelling for underwriting of deals.
  • Managing post transaction workstreams.
  • Advising landlords and occupiers on all aspects of real estate lease transactions.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant technical developments.
  • Liaising with the tax compliance and reporting team.
  • Participating on, and leading calls with clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Proactively managing risk and engagement administration requirements.
  • Delegating work to, and supporting the development of, the junior members of the tax team.
  • Taking ownership of project financial management.

What You’ll Need To Succeed:

  • Significant post qualification experience in providing real estate (or M&A) tax advisory services.
  • Strong tax technical knowledge in real estate specific areas.
  • Working knowledge of the key considerations for other tax specialisms in a real estate context.
  • An ability to communicate complex technical issues in a straightforward way.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Outgoing and personable, able to integrate with a team.
  • Track record of developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload under pressure.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of projects.
  • Demonstrable skills at building and maintaining relationships.
  • A curious and adaptable approach to new technologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (2.1) or equivalent, ACA, CTA or equivalent qualified.
