In Business Transformation at FTI Consulting, we focus on our clients' strategic, operational, financial and capital needs by addressing the full spectrum of performance, financial and transactional challenges faced by corporations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies and other stakeholders. Our services include strategic and business planning, profitability improvement, merger, integration and carve-out and pre-deal commercial and operational due diligence, including interim management.

The Operations Practice sits within Business Transformation, connecting organisation strategy to frontline operations to drive new levels of competitiveness and resilience in an ever changing world. Our approach is designed around three dimensions of operational excellence - the Operating System, Management System and People System to deliver holistic and sustainable impact. The Operations Practice consists of five service lines that focus on improving business profitability by transforming the performance, capabilities and mindsets across all aspects of operations.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement – Drive cost savings and value creation in sourcing and supplier management
  • Manufacturing – Improve efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility in manufacturing
  • Supply Chain – Enhance agility, efficiency and resilience in supply chain networks
  • Service Operations – Improve efficiency, effectiveness and customer experience from field force to back office
  • Capital Delivery – Improve cost-effectiveness and risk management in large scale capital investments

What You'll Do (Directors)

  • Lead client-facing workstreams, deliver high quality outcomes, recommendations and analyses, and work with and through other consultants under guidance of the senior team
  • Developing recommendations based on high quality and insightful financial and operational reviews and modelling
  • Identifying how to improve operational performance and create upside potential
  • Identifying risks, potential downsides and mitigating actions
  • Building pragmatic and implementable strategies and business plans, underpinned by solid analyses
  • Driving client implementation including programme management across multiple initiatives
  • Creating client-ready reports and presenting our work to clients
  • Developing and coaching more junior consultants
  • Working in the FTI London office, with frequent work at client sites

Experience & Qualifications

  • Project experience in high paced environments focused on impact and rapid results (e.g. operations performance improvement, turnaround, business plan development, implementation)
  • Significant experience of short, high intensity projects with tight deadlines and longer implementation programs with coaching, capability building and mindset change
  • Experience of supporting business development activities
  • International exposure and experience an advantage
  • Proven consulting skills with ability to go beyond the analysis to add value, influence change, innovate, visualise and create, while providing outstanding client service
  • Team player with cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Growing people leadership skills
  • Highly organised and structured, with excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience of managing client stakeholders
  • Builds and maintains relationships beyond the engagement
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, builds good professional and personal relationships with client teams at all levels and across the firm
  • Combines business sense and financial understanding with operations content knowledge
  • Strong, concise written and verbal communication skills, able to produce client-ready PowerPoint documents
  • Quickly gains comfort with content areas which are unfamiliar and drives content leadership
  • Flexible to accommodate frequent travel
  • Mature demeanor and positive attitude, as well as sensitivity when dealing with clients
  • In-depth industry experience in operations
  • Experience of leading workstreams / projects on a significant number of consulting engagements in operations, within a top tier management consultancy
  • Educated to degree level
  • Fluent English speaker and writer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in deploying lean principles and tools an advantage
  • Industry experience (e.g. automotive, aerospace & defence, chemicals, pharma & medical device, consumer goods, transportation and logistics, or travel & leisure) an advantage
  • Experience dealing with uncertainty and problem solving with incomplete data
  • Additional qualifications such as MBA or lean accreditation an advantage
  • Continental languages, especially Dutch, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and Arabic highly preferable to open greater opportunities to work with our international offices
