Data Scientist – AI Build Team at FTI Consulting. The role focuses on developing end-to-end machine learning and AI solutions that support clients in production environments. The position requires a pragmatic problem-solver who can deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal guidance, mentor junior colleagues, and lead sub-projects on larger initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data availability/quality assessments
  • Develop comprehensive ETL processes
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and deliver clear insights
  • Generate data visualizations to illustrate material findings
  • Execute and tune statistical analyses
  • Research and select proof-of-concept models
  • Identify viable model features and apply normalizations
  • Log model parameters and metrics for comparison
  • Optimize current processes and pipelines
  • Perform quality control and ensure ModelOps design and implementation
  • Develop well-designed, auditable data pipelines and models
  • Write production-ready, scalable, maintainable code
  • Develop scalable generative AI solutions
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
  • Guide and mentor junior data scientists

Qualifications

  • Experience ideating proof-of-concept projects and independently managing workstreams in larger initiatives
  • Experience mentoring junior resources
  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent
  • A couple of years of data science experience
  • Willingness to travel to client locations and FTI offices

Technical Platform Requirements

  • Python with strong object-oriented programming and design principles
  • SQL with deep understanding of database structure and efficiency
  • Git version control
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks: Huggingface, Torch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, Spacy
  • Experience with MLOps platforms: MLFlow, dbt, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS

Technical Concept Requirements

  • Experience with NLP, forecasting, clustering, recommendation engines, graph theory, and regression modeling
  • Knowledge of cross-validation, ensemble methods, over/under-fitting, accuracy, precision, recall, RAG, agents
  • Understanding of AI/ML performance measurement, QA/QC frameworks, drift, bias, and fairness
  • Experience with hashing, space complexity, parallel processing (multiprocessing)
  • Comfort with Linux/*nix systems, bash scripting, and SSH
  • Prior solution-architect role with design of database, ModelOps, and orchestration solutions
