Senior Data Scientists on the AI Build Team develop end‑to‑end solutions that clients rely on in production. They guide, lead, and mentor junior members while managing key workstreams. The team deploys advanced ML/AI across a range of applications—including NLP for document classification, geospatial modeling, demand forecasting, predictive maintenance, price optimization, and agentic Retrieval‑Augmented Generation systems.
What You’ll Do
- Data Management
- Develop and oversee comprehensive ETL processes
- Design and maintain functional relational databases
- Structure and perform quality control procedures for data ingestion, querying, and usage
- Data Analysis
- Perform exploratory data analysis and render key insights through evidenced results
- Execute data quality assessments
- Illustrate material understandings through coherent data visualizations
- Execute and tune statistical analyses
- Modeling
- Manage proof‑of‑concepts, researching and designing approach
- Design modelling approach and identify appropriate metrics from both technical and business KPI perspectives
- Manage the model lifecycle, logging parameters and metrics, and storing artifacts
- Take ownership of model quality control
- Productionize models
- Ongoing monitoring of model performance
- Engineering
- Develop data pipelines and models that are well designed and auditable
- Write production‑ready code that is scalable, maintainable, and adheres to best design principles
- Set standards and promote best practices for engineering within the team
- Communication
- Partner regularly with internal and external stakeholders, both technical and non‑technical
- Lead meetings to showcase results and insights

What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Experience managing and ideating proof‑of‑concepts
- Experience leading workstreams in larger productionised solutions
- Experience coaching and training junior resources
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent
- A few years of data science experience
- Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s)
Technical Platform Requirements
- Proficiency in Python (including object‑oriented programming and design principles)
- Proficiency in SQL, with strong database structure and efficiency knowledge
- Proficiency in Git
- Proficiency in AI/ML frameworks: Huggingface, Torch, TensorFlow, Scikit‑Learn, SpaCy
- Experience with MLOps platforms such as MLflow, dbt, Docker, Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS
- Experience with AI/ML topics: NLP, Forecasting, Clustering, Recommendation Engines, Network Analysis, Regressions
- Experience with AI/ML concepts: Cross Validation, Ensemble Methods, Over/Under Fitting, Accuracy/Precision/Recall, RAG, Agents
- Understanding of AI/ML performance measurement best practices, bias, fairness, and bias mitigation
- Experience with computer science concepts: Hashing, Space Complexity, Parallel Processing
- Experience working with Linux/*nix systems, bash scripting, SSH
- Experience in a Solution Architect role, designing technical solutions including database design, ModelOps, and orchestration
