About the Role
As professionals in FTI Consulting’s Forensic & Litigation Consulting practice, we are involved in complex, global and high-profile litigation, arbitration and investigations combining end-to-end risk advisory, investigative and disputes expertise to deliver holistic solutions for our clients.
Consultants within the Data & Analytics (D&A) team support this by providing advanced analytics and delivering strategic business solutions for client matters involving large and disparate sets of financial, operational and transactional data. Our objective is to make data tell a story, revealing truths underlying commercial disputes, regulatory inquiries and operational activities.
Our work sits at the intersection of data, technology, investigations and business problem-solving. Whether supporting regulatory investigations, helping clients review large-scale programmes, deploying AI-enabled review solutions, or analysing complex commercial disputes, we use data to uncover evidence, answer critical questions and help clients make decisions with confidence.
Example projects:
A large bank needed to find out whether any activity across its millions of customers might be connected to sanctioned individuals or organisations. D&A brought together large volumes of customer and transaction data and developed tools to compare customer names against sanctions lists. The team then presented potential matches in a review platform, helping investigators identify higher-risk activity and focus their work more efficiently.
FTI supported the UK Government in reviewing national energy-support schemes introduced during the cost-of-living crisis. Working alongside forensic accountants, D&A combined data from multiple energy suppliers and tested nearly half a billion billing records covering more than 21 million properties. The team also used machine learning to extract information from customer bills. This work helped identify billing errors and potential fraud and ensured that more customers received the discounts to which they were entitled.
During a fast-moving financial investigation, an FTI team needed to review a large collection of emails, instant messages and documents. D&A developed a secure and traceable process to organise and analyse the material using FTI’s Generative AI technology. This helped the investigation team quickly identify important themes and information while ensuring that the analysis could be clearly explained and reviewed.
D&A supported an independent panel investigating potential match-fixing in professional tennis. The team combined match results with alerts about suspicious activity and used statistical analysis and interactive visualisations to identify patterns involving particular players, matches and demographic groups. This helped the panel focus its investigation on the areas of greatest concern and turn complex sporting data into clear, evidence-based findings.
